lyrics

We met in rain on summer’s open sand that held our eyes,
We only saw the way we looked at almost perfect tide.

It was hot like hell and I knew that the bridge I’d crossed had gone,
The waves that once were under it were moving to the storm.
And the last time that we kissed I can’t remember through the heat,
And you held my hand and felt my crying heart stampede.

And I knew this day would come around,
You’re leaving as I’m watching you take of from the ground,
And I will be a speck as you move away,
And water’s all you see as you carry red dirt rain.

Now I’m all alone for the first time in my life,
And the Holy Ghost was there too, but he turned to man and died.
And the moon that night had fallen onto open broken road,
And all I had was change and stones and a soul that once was gold.

Old man please don’t hate us,
for we were young and in love,
For once you were there with your heart beating bare,
As the storm broke on us from above.
